Physical activity would treat memory problems among older people. An Australian study shows that physical activity of average intensity that can be done at home a few hours a week could improve, among other brain functions. Published on September 3 in the Journal of the American medical association, it was conducted by researchers at the University of Melbourne on 138 people over 50 years. Participants suffered from memory problems but did not have dementia. The researchers asked a half to make 150 minutes of walking per week on a device, and the other to take a normal processing against memory loss during 24 weeks. The researchers tested the memory capacities of participants until several months after the experiment.
The group followed with a physical activity has shown better results than the usual treatment group after six and twelve months. Moreover, the researchers also noted that physical activity had a positive impact on depression, quality of life, falls and cardiovascular function volunteers.
